Triple Best

Posted: March 18, 2015 in Competitions

On Thursday March 12th my dad and I embarked on an amazing journey to the Pacific Ocean. Just Kidding!!! Sounded good though, right?! We went to James Madison University in Virginia for the JOAD and USA Archery National Competitions. Filled with archery, more archery, swimming in the hotel pool, and shopping at local hunting stores made it the perfect weekend for me. Not to mention the most flavorful hamburger of my life at a local favorite and juicy chicken wings at the Quaker Steak and Lube.

On Friday, in the  JOAD competition, I shot my personal best with a score of 528 (out of 600). Moving on to the USA competition on Saturday and Sunday, I had a lot of arrows to shoot, but the facility was amazing. Saturday, I shot another personal best with a score of 530 and Sunday beat that score with a 531. There was some fierce competition, but once all the scores are reported I will know how I rank in the U.S. for my age group (ages 9-11). I’m hoping to make it into the top 15, but if not there is always next year. Until then, I’m looking forward to competing in some field archery tournaments this summer. Discovering archery has been terrific because I’ve finally found a sport that I could spend all day doing and still not be tired.
